Our Products & Services

Reliable & Innovative

At Ash Grove North, we are proud to offer a variety of value-added services to ensure our customers have access to the best possible solutions for their projects. Our team of experts assist our customers with mix designs, job specifications and specialty product development requirements. We have facilities to manufacture FLEX Solutions, our made-to-order specialized cements. Our automated mixer makes homogeneous blends and is certified ISO 9001. We have over a decade experience creating FLEX Solutions that are regularly tested for quality assurance and to conform to CSA A3000 standards.

To create custom mixes, we use cementitious additives, or industrial byproducts, that when added to Portland cement or mixed with other cements, improve the properties of concrete through their hydraulic or pozzolanic characteristics. The use of cement additives not only produces a more durable, high-performance concrete, but also reduces our environmental footprint by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Fly Ash is a combustion residue (mainly resulting from coal-fired power plants). It is a very fine powder and one of the most commonly used pozzolans in the construction industry. It increases the durability, impermeability and chemical resistance of concrete. It increases the plasticity, improves the workability and pumping of concrete.

Advantages

  • Increase the performance and durability of concrete
  • Prevent alkali-granular reaction (AGR)
  • Meets LEED® rating criteria

Silica fume is a by-product of metallurgy and silicon production. It improves the cohesion and adhesion of fresh concrete and thus leads to more compact performance concrete. It is therefore one of the components of special concretes used at the seaside (better resistance due to salt insolubility).

Advantages

  • Increase the mechanical performance of concrete
  • Helps improve resistance to chemical attack, abrasion and freeze / thaw cycle
  • Prevent alkali-granular reaction (AGR)

Metakaolin is obtained by calcining kaolin clay or kaolin clay, it is a cementitious additive that allows to produce high performance concrete because it is an excellent binder. In addition, its light color makes it possible to manufacture a wide range of colored concrete, which is an important asset for the aesthetics in the prefabrication of concrete besides the reduction of the emissions of greenhouse gases.

Advantages

  • Increases the mechanical performance and durability properties of concrete: resistance to external chemical attack over time, sulfation, chloride, carbonation, etc.
  • Improves the performance of concrete at all ages
  • Meets LEED® rating criteria for reducing CO2 footprint
  • Meets LEED® rating criteria for reducing urban heat islands

Glass powder is considered as an alternative cementitious additive produced by grinding mixed glass waste from the selective collection of colored glass bottles and containers. The incorporation of glass powder as a partial replacement for cement improves the workability, permeability and durability of concrete.

Advantages

  • Locally produced
  • Waste recovery: recovery of mixed glass sent to landfill
  • Decreased permeability, which improves the durability of concrete
  • Pale color that reduces urban heat islands
  • Meets LEED® assessment criteria in the following areas of application: ecological site development; materials and resources; and quality of indoor environments.

Ground Granulated Slag is a by-product of the iron and steel industry and is formed during the production of pig iron in blast furnaces. It is a non-metallic hydraulic binder that is composed mainly of calcium silicates and aluminosilicates. It is used as a partial replacement for Portland cement in concrete production. It improves the handling, strength and permeability of concrete.

Advantages

  • To increase the performance and durability of concrete
  • Improves sulphate resistance
  • Reduces the alkali-granulate reaction (AGR)
  • Satisfied with LEED® evaluation criteria
  • Pale color
